Almost a year has passed since that wonderful autumn evening, and preparations are underway for this year’s edition of Flavors of Fall - a culinary benefit event supporting Cambridge's service organizations. The best chefs in Cambridge will serve gourmet hors d’oeuvres and delicious confections—all with a heaping side of funky jazz.
The date is November 12. The venue is Regattabar at The Charles Hotel in Cambridge. This year's recipient organization is CYCLE Kids, an independent, nonprofit organization designed to introduce children to the joys of cycling, healthy eating and fitness, environmental awareness, and the world of physical science.
This marks our fourth year partnering with our colleagues at BostonChefs.com for an enjoyable evening in support of a worthy community-based organization. Both the event and the contribution we’re able to make on your behalf have grown each year, and we’re hoping this year to top the $10,000 mark. As in the past, we’re making it possible for our clients and friends in other parts of the country to support us in this effort even if they can’t attend in person, by sponsoring a ticket for a worthy recipient. Last year, sponsored tickets represented $800 of the total funds raised for the event.

On July 24, CSA officially turned ten years old. We are so grateful for the opportunity we’ve had to collaborate with such terrific clients and research colleagues since we started as a one-man shop in 1997.
Obviously, a celebration was in order, so on Friday, October 26, 2007, City Square’s associate, past and present, together with our families and friends, gathered in the Boston National Historical Park for a fabulous dinner at The Commandant’s House. The event was catered by Au Soleil (the proprietors of Boston’s terrific dining destination Sel de la Terre) and included a choice of Kataifi Wrapped Butterfish with Sushi rice and Cilantro-Kumquat Salad, Duet of Vermont Chicken with Yukon Potato Fondant and Chestnut Nage, and Braised Beef Short Rib Wellington served with Parsnip- Fennel Purée, Petit Vegetables Agro Dolce, and Star Anise Jus.
Nearly all of CSA’s alum were on hand: Karen Barone, Josh Conway, Caroline Tingley, Anne Hooper, Vivian Harris, Honor Lydon, and Steve Westort. We missed—but certainly celebrated in spirit with—KJ Ward and Mandi Logan.
As a memento of the occasion, guests took home a CD with tunes specially selected by City Square associates present and past to represent their relationship to and feelings about our unique family. Here’s the play list; we leave it to you, Dear Reader, to guess who selected what!

Josh Conway, an old friend and past colleague of ours at City Square has rejoined our adjunct team as a Senior Research Consultant. Over the past couple of years, Josh has been moderating focus groups, conducting in-depth interviews and ethnographies, and managing web-based qualitative research initiatives for clients in consumer technology, perishable foods, business services, media, and software industries. We are delighted to be able to work with him again.
And, in the “whatever happened to . . . department,” we are thrilled and proud for Caroline Tingley who was recently recruited by Dunkin’ Brands for their consumer insights team. Free Munchkins for everyone!
